Professor of Practice position in Chinese (Lincoln, NE)

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures invites applications for a Professor of Practice position in Chinese at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2016.

A Ph.D. in Chinese or related field is required; preference will be given to applicants who will have their degree in hand by August 2016. This is a non-tenure leading position, but comes with other faculty rights and benefits. Professors of Practice hold longer-term renewable contract appointments, with primary responsibility in instructional activities. Thus, candidates must show evidence of excellence in teaching and near native fluency in Chinese and English.

The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in introductory and intermediate Chinese, and to develop and choose materials that contribute to a successful basic language program. The candidate must have experience with instructional technology and will be expected to develop third-year language classes, courses and activities focused on aspects of Chinese culture, a minor in Chinese, and study abroad opportunities.
